Health Information Management


 

Health Information Management professionals are responsible for the development and administration of healthcare data collection and reporting systems that ensure the quality, integrity, availability, and preservation of data in support of patient safety, privacy, confidentiality and security. HIM professionals have expertise in health informatics, which requires knowledge of clinical medicine, the computer-based patient record, coding and classifications systems, quality and human resource management, as well as ethical, legal, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination and earn the credentials Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
